in the west, there are three birds that are known for singing during the night, and often especially on the full moon. These are the yellow-breasted chat, the sage thrasher, and the mockingbird. all are terrific songsters who, when they’re in the mood, love to show off their stuff.
In the next couple of nights, you just may hear one of these guys cut loose. if so…..lucky you! (on the night of tuesday the 26th, true to form, the local mockingbird here in the ‘hood went ALL NIGHT with his singing. an amazing performance. this bird started at 11, burned right up until dawn. and then…..he sang some more. he’s obviously feelin’ good about summer!)
