December 21, 2024- Roku is ‘sunsetting’ their old platform on which our Jiveradio app sits. We built that app essentially for free, plus a little local tech time. Now we need to build a new app for their new platform. If we outsource that, it could be a few thousand dollars, which is a lot for less than a dozen Roku listeners. [We do love ’em all!]

So, a month ago we reverted to local help with some paid assistance.  During that time, the company that serves out the Roku stream made a major change which resulted in new addresses, which was when Roku users started getting the announcement. All users of smart speaker home systems we’re forced to re-enter the new addresses (which are posted on our website far-bottom-right).

So we can’t just build a new Roku app from a computer, no. Now it is necessary to have a Roku device with developer capability and a separate account (from our existing Roku account), so we ordered a used one off of eBay. It got here last week. Without a remote. A remote is required to operate the device. The remote is on the way but won’t be here until the 27th.

That’s it… Roku users are virtually stuck in the snow until next weekend. The Jive is live on all other portals.

 

I am sorry to report that this penniless project (KBVD radio/stream) has ‘been sunsetted’ as they say. With any luck, I will be posting the audio archives here in the months ahead for your lifetime BVD fix.
