In light of these facts, maybe we could just lick the bunny?
santa, yule get all froze up out here!
It’s winter…..solstice has happened……and it’s chillin’ here in the High Desert. So hey, from all of us here at Open Sky Radio to all y’all who appreciate and enjoy the schizoclectic madness and magic that emanates from Our Gigonderous Jukebox of Love…..because after all if Music is Love (I believe that’s an old David Crosby tune), then JiveRadio is basically one big non-stop Love Letter from us to you. Why? Why not? Cuz we love livin’ the Desert Life! For one thing…..no tsunamis! or hurricanes! or tornados! or people! (well, at least a fairly sane number of folks)
So thanks to all, whether you are listening terrestrially via KDUP in cedarville, KLAP in gerlach, KWNK in reno, KORC in corvallis, or KJIV in madras, or if you’re listening in Malta, Madagascar, Manhattan, or Madison via internet stream on JiveRadio.org……have a super fab Holiday season, and may your coffee cup and propane tank both be bottomless……or at least half full…..when that next blast of blue norther nasty blows on in.
(and hey….if Alexa was under your tree or in your stocking, do take a look at the Alexa note on the right side of the JIVE home page, just under good ole Klappy, our radio mascot. Because Alexa is now a jive girl and ready to help you keep jivin’ in 2019!)
Oh no…more press?
Spreading the Jive: A new story by Central Oregonian/Madras Pioneer Editor Tony Ahern out today. See more from Tony & me, the Radio Guy here.

we say fare thee well……
in the previous post, we took note of the passing of the great chicago bluesman Otis Rush, who departed in late September at age 83. well, there has been another death of note in the world of american rock n soul music…..the king of the swamp, Tony Joe White, done made his move to that great polk salad patch in the sky! tony joe was 75 and at home in nashville on october 24th when his heart just sorta called it quits. best known for his still great single Polk Salad Annie, and the author of the smash Rainy Night in Georgia, Tony Joe was one solid cool cat who made and wrote lots of good ones in addition to those two famed hits.
a fun recent appearance by tony joe happened in 2014, when he appeared on dave letterman’s show to do polk salad annie, backed up by none other than the foo fighters. after the song, dave exclaimed, “holy cow! if i was this guy, you could all kiss my ass….and i mean that!”
other super cool tunes by tony joe include Roosevelt and Ira Lee, Oak Grove Louisiana on a Saturday Night, As The Crow Flies, Even Trolls Love Rock n Roll, and Mother Earth.
if you get a chance soon, do yourself a favor and listen to a half hour of both Otis and Tony Joe via whatever music service you favor (pandora, spotify, etc.)……it’ll do ya no harm! (for Otis, try his Right Place, Wrong Time cd or the live So Many Roads. and for Tony Joe, just hit up his Best Of cd, which has a ton of goods)

AND ALSO WE SHOULD NOTE THIS HIGHLY SIGNIFICANT PASSING…….
the great OTIS RUSH, one of the last of the legendary Chicago Blues Dudes, passed on recently. on September 29th, to be exact. he was 83. we might just have to whip up a tribute to the man, who was a blues guitar TITAN and that’s beyond argument!
Down, but not out.
We are experiencing a fairly major domino-effect of software problems. Please hang with us while we massage/exorcize the boogaloos. Signal on air and web may be choppy in the days ahead.
So sorry!
